Local home energy improvement contractors working through Georgia Power's Home Energy Improvement Program must maintain high standards of quality. As a participating contractor you will be required to undergo training and complete projects which will be subject to periodic quality assurance inspections to verify that Georgia Power Home Energy Improvement Program projects get done correctly.
Contractors interested in participating in Georgia Power's Home Energy Improvement Program and working on "Whole-House" energy assessments and improvements and certain "Individual Improvement" projects must meet the certification guidelines of the Building Performance Institute (BPI), the industry's resource for building science technology that sets standards for assessing and improving the energy performance of homes.
Participating "Whole-House" home improvement contractors will be required to perform a thorough "Whole-House" home energy assessment. You will then be required to provide customers with a complete cost effective report of recommended home improvements and inform the customer of energy efficiency incentives.
All participating contractors must also agree to and pass a Georgia Power background check and a drug and alcohol screening process. Georgia Power will maintain a Georgia Power Home Energy Improvement Program contractor list.
"I would say my home energy improvements turned out much better than I expected. I never thought I could have a 30 year old home that would be more energy efficient than a brand new house. I was pretty impressed by the savings! I was there when my consultant did the testing. He showed me an extensive amount of energy problems with my home and followed up with proposed solutions. Basically it was an MRI of my house. It was then up to me to contact professional contractors to come to my house and get improvement estimates."
Rocco - Dunwoody, Georgia"I wanted my house to be more comfortable and not cold everywhere. My house was not really efficient. I only wanted to be more comfortable and not have to walk around with a jacket on. I guess I would say what's important to me is the comfort of my house, good air quality and that my house heats and cools so I am comfortable."
Cherylene - Ellenwood, Georgia"I would say my Home Energy Improvement experience turned out better than expected. I was really surprised with the rebates and the federal tax credit we will get and dollar wise. It really brought it down to an affordable price for everything we did. I feel like we got much needed improvements for our house at a great price. The contractor went above and beyond what I expected. I thought they were great and they went that extra mile to make sure I was happy."
Josh - Atlanta, Georgia"The rebate was my main incentive to try the Home Energy Improvements. Knowing that I would get something back, along with the savings, and knowing that I was trying to make my house more energy efficient - and being more responsible as far as energy cost and usage goes."
Kris - Atlanta, Georgia
