Trot Lines on Jackson Lake

Georgia Power Guidelines for Lake Jackson state that no objects can be placed on Georgia Power property that ".may interfere with a neighbor's enjoyment of the lake.or may create a safety hazard or nuisance to persons using the lake or persons present on land owned by GP". The Georgia DNR's published fishing regulations state that sporting trot lines must be marked with the owners name and address, be attended regularly and removed at the end of the fishing trip, be submerged at least 3' below the waters surface and have less than 51 hooks. Please consider these facts and use care and consideration when placing your temporary trot lines.

Swim Buoys, Trash Barrier

Georgia Power's policy for Jackson Lake regarding swim buoys, ropes and trash barriers prohibits these items from being permanently placed in the lake. Recently, we have observed an increasing number of these structures in Jackson Lake. Enforcement of this policy has been relaxed in recent years due to the severe trash problem we've encountered.

Since the swimming season has come to an end and we haven't experienced the severe trash problem we saw a year ago, now is a good time to remind all property owners on Jackson Lake to remove all swim buoys, ropes and trash barriers. Swim buoys and roped off areas will be allowed during summer months while swimmers are in the water. Barriers to prevent the collection of trash in front of your property will be allowed to remain during the months of December through March. Any of the structures mentioned above remaining in the lake outside of the permitted time frame are subject to being removed by a Georgia Power representative.
