Solar Buyback Program Tariff
Georgia Power can install hybrid-metering systems that allow homes or businesses to be billed for electricity at the regular residential rate but also have a second meter to register the production of electricity from the solar roof systems. Georgia Power will "buy back" electricity produced by the solar panels.
For more information on how the Buyback Program Tariff works, visit www.georgiapower.com/pricing/pdf/11.10_RNR-5.pdf.
Customers who desire to sell electricity back under the above tariff should complete, sign and return the Distributed Generation Contract to:

Is Solar Energy Right for You?
When considering solar energy, there are many issues to think about before getting started. Here are a few things to consider:
- Make sure you have a location with maximum sunlight and no shading between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Ideal orientation is due south and tilted at an angle approximating the latitude, which is 33 degrees in Atlanta.
- Check your local zoning ordinances for any restrictions.
- Consult your homeowner association for any restrictions. Many states do not allow solar panels to be restricted through homeowner covenants.
