Georgia Power

Pegamore Project

To support the growing energy needs of Paulding County and the surrounding area, the need for an additional transmission line from Plant Bowen to McConnell Road substation was identified. The new transmission line will provide additional voltage support to meet the energy demand for the area.

Through a joint planning effort with Georgia Transmission Corporation (GTC), Georgia Power plans to construct a new switching station at the intersection of the new 230 kV transmission line from McConnell Road substation and the Bowen - Villa Rica 230 kV line, which is currently in the process of being reconfigured from 500 kV operations to 230 kV. GTC will partner with Georgia Power on this project and build the new 230 kV transmission line from McConnell Road.

Located along a utility corridor, the station provides the best position to relieve load on existing lines while reducing the impact of transmission line construction to the community. Successful completion of this project will help Georgia Power continue providing the reliable service customers expect.

Like other utilities, Georgia Power is doing work similar to this all across the state where customer growth is occurring and electric use is increasing.
