After experiencing several short outages and making minor repairs to continue the plant's operation, Golden Peanut in Dawson, Ga., experienced an outage that was in excess of 12 hours. Based on our work during the outage and our evaluation of the system, the company decided to demolish its outdated 2.4 kV system and replace it with a modern, "maintainable" 12 kV system. We were able to work with the customer to schedule outages while replacing all of its poles, transformers and conductors, and remove most of the old system. We installed new gang switches and new capacitor banks, rerouted the existing conduit to the new transformers, replaced several new conductors to avoid splicing where possible, and installed conduit and conductors from new transformer locations to existing service locations.

When Sea Island Company decided to upgrade its facilities, Power Services upgraded all of them, including its underground utilities. This project is a three-phase turnkey project. It encompassed all engineering, construction and materials to install a state-of-the-art joint-use concrete-encased duct-line system incorporating power, telephone, cable and Sea Island utilities in the same duct bank.
Phases I, II and III of this project consisted of a duct-line system constructed of PVC ducts encased by concrete joined to steel-reinforced concrete manholes. The duct-line system serves the structures and buildings such as The Cloister, The Beach Club and The Ocean Club on Sea Island.
