Commercial customers can receive rebates to help offset the costs of replacing older, inefficient equipment or installing high-efficiency equipment. Improving energy efficiency in your building reduces energy use and saves you money year after year.

Rebates for Existing Building Lighting

Maximum rebate for combination of measures is $25,000 per building per year.

  • Interior Lighting Requirements

    Interior Retro Fit Existing Fixture

    LED Screw-in

    Rebate/Unit: $2 / Lamp

    Technical Requirements: Installation of type‑A base bulbs.

    • Lamps must be installed in hard-wired, wall- or ceiling-mounted fixtures.
    • Lamps installed in portable fixtures are not eligible for rebates.
    • Equipment is listed on the ENERGY STAR®or Design Lights Consortium (DLC) Qualified Product Lists (QPL).
    • Minimum operation time is 1,000 hours annually.

    LED Linear Tube Replacement/ Retrofit

    Rebate/Unit: $3 / Lamp

    Technical Requirements: Installation of T8, T5, T5 HO, or U-Bend LED bulbs.

    • One-for-one replacement of fluorescent lamps with TLED lamps.
    • Installation of TLEDs in new fixtures does not qualify for rebates; TLED rebates are for the retrofit of existing fixtures only.
    • Tubes may be Type, A, B, or C.
    • A "lamp" is defined as a tube regardless of length or size.
    • Equipment is listed on the DLC qualified product list.
    • Minimum operation time is 1,000 hours annually.

    LED Specialty LIghting

    Rebate/Unit: $4 / Lamp

    Technical Requirements: Installation of type, PAR, MR, BR, R, G or B integral screw-in lamps and 2 or 4 pin LED lights.

    • Self-contained recessed can/downlight trim kits are acceptable.
    • Lamps must be installed in hard-wired, wall- or ceiling-mounted fixtures.
    • Lamps installed in portable fixtures are not eligible for rebates.
    • Equipment is listed on the ENERGY STAR®or DLC qualified product lists.
    • Minimum operation time is 1,000 hours annually.

    Retrofit Linear Fluorescent Fixture with integrated LED retrofit kit

    Rebate/Unit: $25 / Fixture

    Technical Requirements: Installation of new LED troffers, panels or similar linear luminaires.

    • Integrated LED retrofit kits only.
    • Linear retrofit kits are not permitted.
    • Equipment is listed on the DLC qualified product lists.
    • Minimum operation time is 1,000 hours annually.

    New LED Interior Fixtures

    Rebate/Unit: $10 / Fixture or Head

    Technical Requirements: Installation of new recessed, surface, pendant or track luminaires to replace incandescent, halogen, linear fluorescent or CFL luminaires.

    • Equipment is listed on the ENERGY STAR®or DLC qualified product lists.
    • Minimum operation time is 1,000 hours annually.

    LED stairwell fixture containing integrated occupancy control furnished by manufacturer

    Rebate/Unit: $20 / Fixture

    Technical Requirements: Installation of self-contained occupancy-based luminaires in stairwell retrofit projects.

    • Eligible fixtures contain onboard, factory-furnished occupancy controls.
    • Not eligible for additional lighting control rebates.
    • DLC listed retrofit kits are NOT permitted.
    • Equipment is listed on the ENERGY STAR®or DLC qualified product lists.
    • Minimum operation time is 1,000 hours annually.

    Replacement of Linear Fluorescent Fixture with new LED Fixture

New Construction

  • New Construction or Major Renovation Lighting Requirements

    General

    • To qualify for new construction lighting rebates, projects must have an installed lighting power density (LPD) that is at least 20 percent less than the ASHRAE 90.1-2007 Interior Lighting Power Density Allowance
    • Building lights must operate at least 1000 hours
    • Rebates are also available for qualifying interior lighting control devices: such as; occupancy controls, daylight sensing controls, and advanced lighting control systems.

    Project Requirements

    • Must provide maintained lighting levels in accordance with IESNA recommendations
    • Must be a new construction project or major renovation project
    • Major renovation is defined as: Removal of the entire existing lighting system and wiring, redesigning of the entire existing lighting systems, and where a licensed professional architect or engineer has prepared and certified building plans and drawings

    Technical Requirements

    • Wattage reduction may be calculated on a Building-Area basis or the Space-by-Space calculation
    • Space-by-space calculations should only be used when a predefined building type is not listed under the Whole Building Area menu. The total space-by-space square footage should equal the building square footage.

    Required Supporting Documentation to Obtain Preapproval

    • COMcheck or total interior wattage calculation documents listing equipment manufacturer, model numbers, wattages, and quantities.
      • When COMcheck is used provide the raw file
    • Construction Documents:
      • Proposed or final lighting submittal package
      • Manufacturer's specification sheets for all equipment specified
      • Architectural cover page(s)
      • Lighting floor plan
      • Lighting fixture schedule and legend

    Required Supporting Documentation to Obtain Rebate Payment

      • Pay application with summary cost per division

Variable Frequency Drives or Programmable Thermostats

  • HVAC Requirements

    Set-Back Programmable Thermostat

    Rebate/Unit: $50 / Unit

    Technical Requirements: Replacing a standard thermostat or programmable thermostat that is ≥ 10 years old.

    • Must have Intelligent Recovery technology; seven days, 5‑1‑1, or 5‑2 day programming per NEMA Standards for Energy Efficiency Requirements for Programmable Thermostat

    Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)

    Rebate/Unit: $50 / HP

    Technical Requirements: Rebates are only available for new VFDs installed on existing HVAC pumps, motors, or fans.

    • Must be between 2 and 200 HP and operate for at least 1,500 hours annually.
    • VFDs installed on new equipment, non-HVAC equipment or equipment above 200 HP, may be eligible under Custom Savings.

    Smart, WiFi-Enabled Thermostat

    Rebate/Unit: $75 / Unit

    Technical Requirements: Replacing a standard thermostat or programmable thermostat that is ≥ 10 years old.

    • Must have Intelligent Recovery technology; seven days, 5‑1‑1, or 5‑2 day programming per NEMA Standards for Energy Efficiency Requirements for Programmable Thermostat

    Rebate Unit: $2 / linear foot

    Technical Requirements: Installing new door gaskets on commercial refrigeration equipment.

    • Applicable gaskets include those located on the doors of walk-in and/or reach-in coolers and freezers

     

    Night Covers for Display Cases

    Rebate Unit: $3 / linear foot

    Technical Requirements: Installation of a cover on an existing open refrigerated display case to decrease its cooling load during off hours.

    • The equipment manufacturer must not object to the use of night covers for the existing display case model.

     

    Retrofit open vertical refrigerated case with glass door

    Rebate Unit: $100 / unit

    Technical Requirements: Installation of either no sweat doors or doors with anti-sweat heaters.

    • If a lighting retrofit is included with the new doors, it must consume the same amount of energy or less energy than the old lighting.
    • Upgrades to lighting or other system components should be processed separately.

    Technical Requirements: Installation of equipment that senses cooking conditions and allows the system to automatically vary the rate of exhaust to match cooking requirements.

    • Must meet or exceed the specification set for the flow rate for "WaterSense" labeled pre-rinse spray valves of 0.6 GPM (Code to high Efficiency)

     

    Vertical Refrigerated Case Special Doors with low/no anti-sweat heat

    Rebate Unit: $30 / door

    Technical Requirements: Installation of either no sweat doors or doors with anti-sweat heaters.

    • If a lighting retrofit is included with the new doors, it must consume the same amount of energy or less energy than the old lighting.
    • Upgrades to lighting or other system components should be processed separately.

     

    Strip Curtains

    Rebate Unit: $3 / linear foot

    Technical Requirements: Installation of new strip curtains or plastic swinging doors, installed on doorways of refrigerated spaces (conditioned to less than 50° F).

    • Rebate is based on the square footage of the doorway.
    • Opening between the strip curtain and bottom of doorway must be no larger than 1 inch.
    • Strips must have an overlay greater than 1 inch.

    • New pump motor at least 91 percent efficient.
