Honest Contact: How Georgia Power Contacts Customers

When an account is past due, we will call the primary account telephone number with a prerecorded message requesting the customer to call us to discuss the status of the account. If a payment is due, customers may contact Georgia Power to make a secure payment in one of three ways: 

  • Call us at 1-800-672-2402 to make a payment through BillMatrix, our third-party provider.
  • Pay in person at an Authorized Payment Location.
  • Pay online through our secure customer portal.

Safe Visits and Payments

If an employee needs to visit a customer's home or business for a service-related issue, he/she will be in uniform and present a photo ID badge with his/her name and Georgia Power logo. Our employee will also arrive in a vehicle marked with Georgia Power’s logo.

Georgia Power will never contact you by phone or send an employee to your home or business to collect a payment or to request your credit or debit card, banking or social security number.

When We Visit Your Home or Business

If a field service representative needs to visit your home or business for a service-related issue, our employee will wear an official Georgia Power uniform and present ID with their name, photo, and Georgia Power’s logo. The employee will also arrive in a Georgia Power vehicle marked with our logo.

If you have reason for concern or suspect a problem, please call Georgia Power to verify ID at 1-888-660-5890. 

What Georgia Power is doing to combat fraud:

Georgia Power continues to work with law enforcement agencies throughout the state to identify and prosecute criminals who pose as Georgia Power employees in order to defraud customers.

If you suspect that someone is at your home or place of business impersonating a Georgia Power employee: 

  • Call your local police immediately.
  • Call Georgia Power at 1-888-660-5890.
  • DO NOT let the individual inside your home or business.
  • DO NOT go outside with the individual.
  • DO NOT provide them with your account number or any personal or financial information.

If you suspect that someone has already visited you to obtain personal or financial information, please contact us immediately at 1-888-660-5890. Representatives are available to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Recognizing Employees

Georgia Power employees visiting your home should always have a photo identification badge. Field service reps will wear a Georgia Power uniform that includes the company logo and service vehicles are marked with the Georgia Power logo.

If you suspect a problem:

  • Call Georgia Power to verify ID
  • Don’t allow the person inside your home
  • Don’t go outside the house with the person
  • Call your local law enforcement agency if concerned

In 2016, Georgia Power unveiled new branding, which includes a new logo and replaces the company’s red triangle logo. As Georgia Power transitions all company vehicles, facilities, equipment and uniforms to the new logo throughout the following year, you may see the red triangle logo still displayed in some places.
