Summer Slugger program visited Villages at Carver Family YMCA, Humphries Elementary School, East Lake YMCA, and Scott Elementary School. Atlanta Braves pitcher, AJ Minter attended one of the events.
Georgia Power and the Atlanta Braves are teaming up to bring exciting enrichment opportunities to fourth and fifth graders through the Summer Slugger Program. The baseball-themed, interactive digital learning course reinforces key math and reading skills during the summer months, a time when students can experience learning loss in those areas. As part of Summer Slugger, Georgia Power’s Learning Power program coordinators will educate students on energy efficiency by sharing tips on how to reduce energy use. The Summer Slugger initiative is incorporated into enrichment programs at participating schools and nonprofits.
Georgia Power is committed to enhancing and improving education in the state, and building the highly-skilled workforce of tomorrow, through initiatives such as the company’s signature LearningPower program. LearningPower provides customized curriculum and materials at no cost to schools with education coordinators presenting STEM-related lessons to thousands of students across the state every year. The program has reached more than 380,000 students since its start six years ago.
