Shelter in Place order Lifted

We understand the importance of energy in our daily lives and we are here for you. We are providing an additional grace period to customers who self-identified as sheltering in place under the governor’s order to help provide some peace of mind. 

Customers who are participating in one of our prepaid rates may currently have negative dollars remaining. To help you maintain service, we are providing the following options:

  • Add funds to achieve a positive dollars remaining balance
  • Allow us to move the negative dollars remaining balance into the account’s deferred balance 
    • If your account has a negative dollars remaining balance of $5 or greater as of June 13, we will move the full amount into the account’s deferred balance
    • Once this balance has been moved, customers will need to add funds to achieve and maintain positive dollars remaining to prevent service interruption beginning June 15
    • 25% of all payments will be directed to reduce the deferred balance and 75% will be applied to Dollars Remaining. After the outstanding balance is repaid, 100% of each payment will apply towards Dollars Remaining
    • A late payment charge of 1.5% is applied to the total amount outstanding in the Deferred Balance each month
    • At your request, the entire deferred balance can be paid in full at any time

  • Transition from PrePay to a Post Pay rate
    • If you prefer this option, we must receive your request by June 12
    • Moving from PrePay to Post Pay
      • Your full deferred balance and any negative dollars will be required upfront
      • A deposit of two times the average monthly bill may also be required upfront, based on a credit assessment
      • Achieve and maintain a positive dollars balance until PrePay unenrollment is complete
    • Moving from Pay by Day to Post Pay
      • Your full deferred balance and any negative dollars will be required upfront
      • A deposit of two times the average monthly bill may also be required upfront, based on a credit assessment
      • You may be required to pay an additional adjustment amount if your contract period is not complete. Refer to the Pay by Day terms and conditions for more information.
      • Achieve and maintain a positive dollars balance until the Pay by Day unenrollment is complete

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program

Every year the program helps low-income households pay for heating and cooling in their homes. Applications are made though a local Community Action Agency and the assistance is available in all 159 counties in Georgia.

Emergency Rental Assistance Program

This program provides Georgia residents both housing and utility assistance and is currently accepting appointments.

United Way

This free service can connect customers with community agencies that provide services which meet a wide range of needs, including:

  • Utility Assistance
  • Housing, food and other essentials
  • Child and elder care
  • Medical expenses and health counseling

The Salvation Army's Project SHARE

Funds donated by customers are matched by Georgia Power and made available statewide for utility assistance in local communities.
