“I was raised to believe it is everyone’s obligation to give back. With Georgia Power, I’m able to do that through workplace giving. Our programs make it easy for me to give to the agencies I believe in, and I do that through Club of Hearts.”
Charlie Ross — Georgia Power Club of Hearts project manager, Atlanta, Ga.
More than 60 years ago, Georgia Power established a Georgia 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, known as the Club of Hearts, Inc., as a way for employees in Metro Atlanta to give back to their communities. In 2016, we announced that the effort would go statewide with employees across the company having an opportunity to make a pledge to the agency or agencies of their choice–a first in Club of Hearts‘ history.
Through payroll deduction, employees can donate as little as $1 per month to support more than 250 agencies.
“We wanted it to be easy for employees to give to agencies of their choice and we wanted a way to make their donation have even more impact,” said Charlie Ross, Club of Hearts project manager. “Even the smallest donation makes a difference.”
In 2016 alone, the Club of Hearts employee giving campaign raised more than $800,000.
