- Save Money: By recycling your secondary refrigerator or freezer, you’ll save up to $100 a year in energy costs, or as much as $800 over its remaining life.
- Save Natural Resources: The average refrigerator 15 years old or older contains about 120 pounds* of steel and uses twice as much energy as a new ENERGY STAR® refrigerator. Recycling with us ensures sustainable handling of old refrigerant and foam that would otherwise demand landfill space. You can save as much as $260 over the next five years and reduce your carbon footprint by 8,200 pounds when replacing an old refrigerator with ENERGY STAR®.

In order for your refrigerator to be eligible for a pickup and rebate, it must be a secondary working unit. It cannot be the primary refrigerator for the residence. Rebates are available to all Georgia Power residential customers. Recleim, an appliance recycler, will pick up and recycle refrigerators and freezers that are empty and working. Refrigerators and freezers must be between 10 – 30 cubic feet in size and collection crews will need clear access to the unit. Customers must own the unit(s) being recycled. No purchase of new or replacement refrigerator or freezer units necessary for program participation. Limit two units per Georgia Power residential account per year. A check will be issued to the Georgia Power customer and will be mailed approximately 6-8 weeks after the appliance pickup. Contractor reserves the right to leave the appliance if removal may cause damage to the property, or is otherwise impractical or unsafe.
