Electric Utility Assistance

Receive payment assistance with your utility bill

If you are a renter behind on your utility bill, you may be eligible to receive financial assistance through our collaboration with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA). Funding is available for a limited time and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis to Georgia Power customers who qualify. Find out if you are eligible and apply today.

How the program works:

Step 1

Click here to review the program criteria on the Georgia DCA website.

You will be required to answer a few questions to determine your eligibility for utility payment assistance.

Step 2

Create an account to complete application

If you qualify for assistance, you will need to provide the following documents and information required to complete the application:

  • Georgia Power account number
  • Proof of identity
  • Verification of income, renter status, and risk of homelessness or housing instability (such as owing a past-due electric bill)

Step 3

Application processing

Email notification will be sent to you upon completing the application. Funding eligibility will be reviewed within 3-4 weeks of your submission.

You may visit the application portal to review your funding status.

Step 4

Funding approval

Once approved, you will receive a message from Georgia DCA and a hold will be placed on your Georgia Power account to prevent service interruption for 45 days while funds are transferred.

During this time, no payment is required, and electric service will remain active.
