For over two decades, the Georgia Power Foundation has donated over $2 million to Boys and Girls Clubs through a continued partnership, helping to fund projects addressing the needs of the local clubs.
Our partnership supports everything from summer camps, implementation of workforce readiness programming, and personal protective gear to keep clubs open during COVID-19, to capital campaigns supporting club renovation programs.
The Automotive Training Center (ATC), and the Georgia Power Foundation, is making significant strides in empowering at-risk youth and young adults from low-income communities.
Georgia Power is working extensively with the Automotive Training Center to help to steer students towards a more specialized career path, and advising the program’s administrator on what organizations like Southern Company are looking for when hiring fleet mechanics.
Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing solutions and empowering communities.
Through grants, internal fundraising, legacy projects, and hands-on volunteer support, Georgia Power and the Georgia Power Foundation have consistently supported Habitat for Humanity’s mission of providing affordable homeownership to those in need around the state.
Many seniors are unable to address major repairs like replacing HVAC systems or fixing old wiring, because they are too expensive, putting them at risk of freezing temperatures or dangers such as electrical problems.
In partnership with the Georgia Power Foundation, this program seeks to uplift Atlanta’s seniors in response to these challenges by targeting two crucial areas of support: the upgrading of electrical systems for enhanced safety and efficiency, and the improvement of lighting fixtures in key living spaces to prevent falls and conserve energy.
The Georgia Power Foundation's Workforce for Georgia program has awarded 44 grants, serving thousands of Georgia students. This funding has helped to expand and create new educational pathways in fields such as engineering, technology, healthcare science, and agriculture.
Many of these programs are located in communities with 35,000 or fewer residents or with a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students, providing access to training that builds and reinforces a skilled workforce.
In 2023, the Georgia Power Foundation allocated $380,000 to its Teachers for Georgia program, supporting the recruitment and retention of male educators of color.
The funds were distributed across the state, with $200,000 aiding the Augusta University-Richmond County Schools Induction Program, $75,000 supporting the Morehouse College My Brother’s Teacher mentorship initiative, and $105,000 assisting other Teachers for Georgia initiatives, including Profound Gentlemen, Call Me MiSTER and The Literacy Lab.
