Since energy demand is higher during the hot summer months (June – September), generating electricity during this time costs more. This period is called On-Peak pricing and runs from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on summer weekdays, excluding holidays.
Off Peak pricing occurs during all hours not included during the on-peak period including all weekends, Independence Day, and Labor Day.
Since the electricity during Off-Peak hours is cheaper to generate we can pass those savings on to customers by offering lower rates during this time.
Nights & Weekends' On-Peak pricing period runs from 2 p.m. - 7 p.m. on summer weekdays, excluding holidays, from June to September. This is when customers generally consume the most electricity, representing the time when it’s the most expensive to produce electricity.
When you shift some of your energy usage away from On-Peak times, we’re able to pass the resulting savings directly to you. If you don't adjust your electricity use to Off-Peak hours, you may see a higher bill under the Nights & Weekends rate plan.

How Changes to Rate Plans are Decided
All rate plans are subject to change through our Regulatory Filings, including pricing details and payment structures, if approved by the Georgia Public Service Commission.

The Nights & Weekends rate is designed to help customers who can shift electric usage from on-peak hours (2 p.m. to 7 p.m., weekdays excluding holidays, June through September) when it costs more to generate electricity, to off-peak hours. However, we’re unable to guarantee or predict savings on this rate.
If you are not currently on the Smart Usage rate plan or Overnight Advantage rate plan, your current electric meter isn’t configured to let us know how much energy you use during on-peak hours compared to off-peak hours. We also can’t predict how much usage you would shift to off-peak hours once you are on the Nights & Weekends rate.
Yes, it is possible. It all depends on when you use electricity.
