Start, Stop or Move Service

When moving to a new residence, you always face many last-minute details. One detail that we can make easier is connecting your electric service at your new residence. Use the resources here to:

  • Start new service in a home previously connected to the Georgia Power Grid
  • Move or Transfer existing service
  • Establish a new connection to the Georgia Power Grid

Moving? Set Up New Service

You can apply to turn on previosuly connected electric service either online or by phone. Service can be connected at your new residence every day except weekends and business holidays. Next-day service is available for requests entered before midnight, excluding new service requests requiring installation or other construction work (digging, etc.).

Information Required

  • Your name (or name for the primary account holder, if different)
  • Service address (where the power is to be turned on)
  • County, lot and neighborhood information (if the home is new)
  • Home phone
  • Alternate phone number (work, etc.)
  • Social Security number (of the primary account holder)
  • Spouse or roommate name
  • Mailing address (if different han service address)
  • Effective date you would like service to be turned on (Monday through Friday)
  • Temporary contact information for us to use during the installation process
  • Descriptions of any new access problems such as locked gates, dog, etc.

If Additional Information is Required

You may be asked for additional information to complete your request. This may include a copy or photo of your:

  • Valid government issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.)
  • Social security card
  • W2 form
  • Lease (first and last page only)
  • Proof of ownership
  • Welcome letter from leaser

You will receive follow up information and instructions to complete your service request within 1 business day of the date we receive your documents.
