Transitioning to civilian life can prove challenging for many service members, veterans, and their families.
The Warrior Alliance, founded in 2015, facilitates this transition across Georgia by connecting service members with customized resources to navigate the next, sometimes daunting, chapter of their lives. The Atlanta-based nonprofit ensures that service members and veterans—as well as their spouses, children, and caregivers—receive prompt, personalized assistance, connecting them to a wide range of services, including in the areas of healthcare, education, employment, housing, and financial planning.
"There's one common thing that service members, veterans, and National Guard reserve deal with when they're leaving the military, and that is the common issue of losing a sense of purpose and worth," said Scott Johnson, The Warrior Alliance President and CEO, during an appearance on Atlanta & Co.
Since 2020, Georgia Power has supported The Warrior Alliance through both employee volunteer hours and ensuring the organization has access to resources that aid in veteran adjustment. The work is personal for the organization as 12 percent of its workforce has military affiliation as of 2024, according to Georgia Power spokesperson Tiffani Pike.
“Military people are excellent at what they do and once you give them a process to follow and you show them you're going to help them with a path, they jump on it and they figure it out,” Johnson said.
