The annual Green Sports Alliance Summit is the largest and most influential gathering for the sports community to unite around sustainability. The event brings together hundreds of industry stakeholders to learn and share better practices and the latest innovations in greening operations, advancing the supply chain and engaging fans.
The theme for this year’s Summit was “PLAY GREENER™ : Get in the Game” and focused on taking action that encouraged collaborative problem-solving to achieve sustainable change across the sports spectrum. Attendees engaged in multiple skill-building and problem-solving workshops to develop solutions that encourage environmental and social responsibility across operations, supply chains, and fan bases.
Wilson Mallard, renewable development director at Georgia Power joined a panel of former athletes and industry advocates to discuss the future of renewable energy and its impact on the future of sports. The sports industry is uniquely positioned to make large scale impact in the environmental performance of many of our largest public spaces. Sports teams also play a special role in influencing citizens and mobilizing communities to take action.
