Throughout Georgia Power’s history, the company has recognized the important role veterans have played in securing our nation’s freedom and continues to salute those employees who have served in uniform while helping to power the state of Georgia.
This Veterans Day, Georgia Power is proud to highlight and honor both the veterans who work for the company as well as veterans in the community. Through various activities this week, Georgia Power had the opportunity to show support and appreciation for those who served our country.
On November 4, Georgia Power joined the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena as a presenting partner of the True to You Career Center. Through this initiative, veterans throughout the metro Atlanta community were provided opportunities of employment, learning and development, and support services. 35 veterans from Gateway Center and T.R.O.O.P.S attended the career development workshop, which included a panel discussion, career readiness training, as well as tickets to the Atlanta Hawks Veteran’s Appreciation Night Game.
Veteran employees also had a chance to be recognized at the game for their service by holding the American flag during the national anthem.
