Georgia Power ranked #1 J.D. Power for Residential Customer Satisfaction in segment for second consecutive year

For the second year in a row, Georgia Power has been ranked number one in residential electric customer satisfaction among Large Utilities in the South by J.D. Power in its 2023 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction StudySM . The study examines satisfaction across six factors including Power Quality and Reliability; Price; Billing and Payment; Communications; Corporate Citizenship; and Customer Care. Georgia Power was rated highest in every factor for 2023.

“This recognition by J.D. Power is a testament to the commitment of all of our employees to keeping our customers at the center of everything we do,” said Chima Chijioke, vice president of Customer Services for Georgia Power. “At Georgia Power, we understand that energy costs are an important part of every customer’s budget and that they depend on us to deliver safe, clean, reliable and affordable energy every day. As we continue to evolve our business to meet the changing needs of our customers, invest in the power grid to enhance reliability and meet the growing energy needs of our state, we’re dedicated to maintaining outstanding customer service at every level.”

According to the study, Georgia Power’s number one ranking occurred even as overall residential electric utility satisfaction continues a multiyear decline, with a primary factor being higher utility bills across the industry.

Georgia Power’s focus on providing excellent customer service for all of its 2.7 million customers includes many touchpoints – in-person, via phone, online and social media customer service choices – as well as customizable rate plans and payment options. The company prioritizes affordability for customers, working with the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) to offer programs and resources year-round to help customers manage their energy use and lower their energy costs. Over the past decade, energy efficiency programs have helped Georgia Power customers reduce usage by billions of kilowatt hours. The company also maintains a strong focus on connecting customers – including senior citizens, those with one-time or ongoing special needs, and those with limited incomes – with programs and resources when they’re in need. As part of a continued commitment to empowering customers, the company has hosted or participated in hundreds of local community events this year and brought all resources and tools together in a new customer portal: GeorgiaPower.com/MyEnergy.

J.D. Power is a global leader in consumer insights, advisory services and data and analytics established in 1968.
