Georgia Power Launches Grow Georgia to Support Minority-Owned Businesses

The Georgia Power Department of Community & Economic Development recently launched an initiative called “Grow Georgia” which aims to support the growth of minority-owned businesses across Georgia. On Wednesday, August 17, investors and startups from Atlanta gathered to celebrate the launch at the Atlanta United vs. NY Red Bulls match.

Minority-owned startups were able to meet and network with investors as well as get information on supplier-diversity resources. With Georgia being home to 18 of the country’s top 500 companies, Grow Georgia features companies such as The Home Depot, Delta and UPS who offer supply diversity programs, giving minority businesses more contract opportunities.

One of the attendees, Farah Allen, Founder and CEO of The Labz enjoyed the event. “Tonight, I reconnected with people I hadn’t seen in four years, made new business connections, and discovered opportunities for my business - Grow Georgia provided the platform to make all of that possible.”

Grow Georgia also created a digital hub of resources on topics such as funding, expansion support, networking and more. For more information visit https://growgeorgia.com/
