Make sure your home is ready to receive power

As damage is cleared and power restoration continues after a major storm, it’s important to ensure that your home is ready for service restoration. In some situations, for your safety, we're unable to restore power to your home.

If the service entrance to your home is damaged, Georgia Power will be unable to restore electric service until it is repaired by a certified electrician. The service entrance is the point where our Georgia Power lines join with your home’s electrical wires, usually at or near the power meter.  Please keep in mind that Georgia Power CANNOT perform these repairs, and for safety reasons cannot safely restore service if any of the following are present:

  • Mast pipe bent
  • Weather head damaged or absent
  • Service entrance pulled from house (i-bolt, screw knob, wire, or mast pipe)
  • Meter base pulled from house

If your home’s service entrance is damaged, please call 1-877-749-3931 to request a repair electrician.

If you decide to schedule your own contractor, please call the above number when repairs are complete so that your home can be added to the service restoration schedule.

Once your damaged service is repaired and Georgia Power is notified, we will schedule the reconnection of your service.
