Theft of Electricity

Theft of Electricity

Stealing electricity is a serious crime that results in a higher cost to produce electricity, which is passed down to customers.

Theft of electricity includes, but is not limited to, tampering with connections or meters and establishing service with fraudulent or stolen identities. Energy theft does more than just increase the cost of electricity, tampering with electric meters and wiring can result in serious fires, injury and even death. This poses serious danger to the thief, to their neighbors and to Georgia Power employees.
