Georgia Power, St. Vincent de Paul Georgia Offer Help and Hope

It’s been said that we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

Founded in 1903, St. Vincent de Paul Georgia is giving back to neighbors in need. With a main service center in Chamblee and 73 local service hubs across the state, St. Vincent de Paul Georgia has grown to become the oldest, largest, and most trusted statewide social services safety net organization in Georgia.

A staff of more than 3,000 trained volunteer caseworkers provided help and hope to more than 200,000 Georgians last year. With a focus on hunger, housing, and health, the non-profit organization meets basic needs, helps families avoid eviction and keep utilities connected, as well as provides education to support self-sufficiency.

In an appearance on Atlanta & Co., Executive Director of Corporate Responsibility with Georgia Power Rita Breen shared how a 15-year partnership with St. Vincent de Paul Georgia is making a long-term difference in lives of those in need.

“People can fall on hard times and Saint Vincent de Paul is there to provide rental assistance, utility assistance, food security as well as medications,” said Breen. “What we love about Saint Vincent de Paul is not just the emergency assistance, but the fact that they support people longer term to help them get back on their feet.”

St. Vincent de Paul’s work to improve stability and long-term success relies heavily on volunteers, clothing and household item donations, and financial support. Bea Perdue, Senior Director of Philanthropy for St. Vincent de Paul Georgia, welcomes all levels of support.

“From volunteering at our service center in Chamblee or our thrift stores to making a financial or other donation, there is no end to how people can get involved,” said Perdue.

With more than $33 million donated to Georgia communities in 2024 and 80,000 hours of volunteer and board service, Georgia Power is empowering organizations like St. Vincent de Paul Georgia to meet the needs of our neighbors who need a helping hand.
