Georgia Power Seeking Corporate Sponsors to Help Expand Solar Energy Program

Corporate sponsorship applications are now open for Georgia Power’s new Income Qualified Community Solar Program that is set to launch this summer. This new program provides an opportunity for corporate sponsors to “buy down” the Community Solar program’s monthly subscription cost by 75%, making it more affordable for income qualified Georgia Power customers to support renewable energy growth across the state.

“Corporate sponsors are imperative to the success of the Income Qualified Community Solar Program and we’re excited to partner with other businesses to help create a more sustainable future for all Georgians,” says Tray Leslie, Georgia Power Renewables and Resiliency Manager.

Georgia Power’s current Community Solar Program allows residential customers to support the development of solar energy by purchasing a monthly subscription for $24 with the ability to receive an energy credit on their monthly bill based on the actual production of the company’s community solar facilities. Through the new Income Qualified Community Solar Program and with the support of corporate sponsors, the monthly subscription cost will be reduced to only $6 a month for income-qualified residential customers.

In addition to enhancing their social impact by providing access to renewable energy for income qualified households, corporate sponsors of the program will also have Renewable Energy Credits retired on their behalf to further support their renewable energy goals as a company.
