Hurricane Idalia cleared Georgia last night allowing Georgia Power to begin full-scale restoration work. There is significant damage due to hurricane force winds, heavy rain and flooding, especially in the hardest hit areas of South and Coastal Georgia. While restoration work is underway, damage assessment continues as well, which will allow us to provide more accurate estimated restoration times by end of day Thursday for the hardest hit areas in the state.
Crews will continue working around-the-clock until all customers impacted by Hurricane Idalia are restored. Customer should keep safety top of mind as conditions after a hurricane are dangerous, especially around fallen trees and debris where power lines, broken poles and other equipment could be hidden.
