Home Energy Improvement Program (HEIP)

The Home Energy Improvement Program (HEIP) helps Georgia Power customers reduce energy use, save on energy costs and improve the indoor air quality and comfort of their homes. Residential customers can earn rebates from Georgia Power for implementing and installing qualifying energy savings improvements.

In this program, there are two approaches:

Whole House

The Whole House approach promotes a holistic method of reducing electricity use through the installation of multiple prescriptive improvements. It is a three step comprehensive method which assesses all of the systems within your home.

Participation in the Whole House Home Energy Improvement Program is limited. Qualified customers are eligible for 50% of cost up to $1,150. Please contact 1-877-310-5607 for additional information.

Individual Improvements

The Individual Improvements approach allows Georgia Power customers to receive incentives for installing one or more individual energy efficiency measures. All individual improvement applications must pre-qualify. Georgia Power rebates 50% of cost up to $600 per year.

The Individual Improvement approach is now accepting applications for pre-qualification; customers and contractors may apply online today.  All Single Family and Multifamily Individual Improvements projects require pre-qualification in the online application system to be eligible.

Eligibility Requirements

Must be a Georgia Power residential customer to participate. All preconditions and measure requirements must be met. All rebates may not apply if customer’s home is not eligible for all qualifying improvements. All terms and conditions forms must be signed, submitted and reviewed for accuracy before rebate is paid. Rebates are subject to limitations and subject to change. Customer’s actual utility bill savings will vary depending on individual energy usage and qualifying improvements made.

For Whole House rebate consideration, a Home Energy Assessment must be performed by a qualified Program Contractor, and recommended improvements must be completed by a qualified contractor. The contractor will charge a fee for the Home Energy Assessment. Rebate eligibility for installed improvements depends on test-out Home Energy Assessment results. All work is subject to third party verification. All improvement agreements are between the customer and contractor. Georgia Power takes no responsibility for installed equipment, installation services or other improvement agreements. Contractors set installation and service prices.
