Due to the declared COVID-19 pandemic, Georgia Power is suspending, until further notice, all customer programs that involve customer facing interaction, including the Home Energy Improvement Program.


We appreciate your interest in our program, but out of an abundance of caution for the safety, health, and wellbeing of our customers, employees and participating Program Contractors, we think it is necessary to temporarily pause the program.


Home Energy Improvement Program (HEIP)

The Home Energy Improvement Program (HEIP) helps Georgia Power customers reduce energy use, save on energy costs and improve the indoor air quality and comfort of their homes. Residential customers can earn rebates from Georgia Power for implementing and installing qualifying energy savings improvements.

There are three ways to participate in this program:

Individual Improvements

The Individual Improvement approach allows Georgia Power customers to receive incentives for installing one or more qualifying individual energy efficiency measures. All individual improvement applications require pre-qualification. Georgia Power rebates 50% of cost up to $600 per year.

The Individual Improvement approach is now accepting applications for pre-qualification; customers and contractors may apply online today. All Single Family and Multifamily projects require pre-qualification in the online application system to be eligible.

The following items must be completed by a participating Program Contractor and may qualify for rebates of 50% of the cost up to:

Air Sealing $300
Home Energy Assessment $150

The following items may use a participating Program Contractor or other licensed professional and may qualify for rebates of 50% of the cost up to:

Duct Sealing $300
Integral (Hybrid) Heat Pump Water Heater $250

The following items may be self-installed, use a participating Program Contractor or other licensed processional and may qualify for rebates of 50% of the cost up to:

Attic Insulation* $250
Smart Thermostat^ $75
*Depending on the type of insulation, this can be self-installed, installed by a licensed professional or require a participating Program Contractor.
^Must be purchased through the Georgia Power Marketplace.

Whole House Improvements

The Whole House approach is a three-step comprehensive method, which includes:

  • An initial energy assessment provided by a participating Program Contractor, who provides recommendations for improvements to make your home more efficient and comfortable
  • Make upgrades that best meet your needs.
  • Complete the process with a final assessment to determine your total energy savings.

Participation in the Whole House approach is limited. Qualified customers are eligible for 50% of cost up to $1,150.

Eligibility Requirements

  • A Home Energy Assessment must be performed by a participating Program Contractor. We offer up to $150 toward the cost of your Home Energy Assessment. 
  • Complete the recommended improvements and achieve a 25% energy reduction for up to a $1,000 rebate.
  • Rebate eligibility depends on Home Energy Assessment results.
  • Must be a Georgia Power residential customer.

Multifamily Whole House Improvements

Our Multifamily Home Energy Improvement Program participation is limited and requires a reservation. Multifamily properties interested in Whole House rebates must first apply for a reservation through a participating Program Contractor.

The program approach is a three-step comprehensive method, which includes:

  • An initial energy assessment provided by a participating Program Contractor, who provides recommendations for improvements to make your multifamily unit efficient and comfortable
  • Make upgrades that best meet your needs 
  • Complete the process with a final assessment to determine your total energy savings

The Multifamily Home Energy Improvement Program offers the following rebates for qualified program participants:

  • 50% of cost, up to $500 per unit per year for qualifying improvements
  • 50% of cost, up to $75, for a Home Energy Assessment completed by a participating Program Contractor 
  • 50% of cost, up to $38, for a Smart Thermostat purchased through the Georgia Power Marketplace

Eligibility Requirements

  • Property residents must be Georgia Power residential customers.
  • All preconditions and requirements must be met.
  • All rebates may not apply if customer's home is not eligible for all qualifying improvements.
  • All terms and conditions forms must be submitted and reviewed for accuracy prior to rebate being paid.
  • All improvement agreements are between the customer and contractor.
  • Contractors set installation and service prices. Georgia Power takes no responsibility for installed equipment, services or other agreements.
  • Customer's actual utility bill savings will vary depending on individual energy usage and qualifying improvements made.
