What's Budget Billing all about?

Budget Billing is a free program that averages the highs and lows of your electric bills by giving you an average price to pay each month. It is not a discount plan because you will pay for all of your actual usage, but with Budget Billing it is levelized. Your Budget Billing amount may change over time as your average usage increases or decreases, and you may be notified in advance when the amount adjusts.

How does weather impact my bill?

On a standard rate, bills can be higher when usage increases during hot summer months (cooling) and winter months (heating). With Budget Billing, seasonal costs are spread out over the year to help avoid large month-to-month swings.

How is Budget Billing different from FlatBill?

FlatBill is a contracted fixed rate over a 12‑month period, while Budget Billing amounts are not fixed and may fluctuate up or down depending on energy usage.

What are the eligibility requirements?

Eligibility generally requires that customers have been at their current residence and in good financial standing with Georgia Power over the previous 12 months, and that they have not discontinued the program in the last 12 months.

What happens if I cancel?

Budget Billing can be stopped at any time. If you cancel, the difference between your current usage amount and your Budget Billing amount will be due in full.

Will I be able to see my usage while enrolled?

Once enrolled, a section appears on your billing statement to help you monitor the program, including the actual dollar amount of electricity used, the difference between actual usage and Budget Billing amounts, and the total accrued difference.

What happens after I have been on Budget Billing for 12 months?

After 12 months, your monthly bill may be adjusted to better reflect actual consumption. Any total difference from the previous year can be rolled into the next year's Budget Bill plan and divided equally over the next 12 months.
