If you are a medium business, you have electricity requirements between 30 kW and 499 kW. Medium businesses include restaurants, grocery stores, churches, banks, some department stores and similar type businesses.

Which rate plan is right for a typical medium business?

Most Medium Business customers are on the Power & Light – Medium (PLM) rate, which is for customers with a maximum demand greater than 30 kW but less than 500 kW. The Power and Light rates (PL Small, PL Medium and PL Large) are the most common among Georgia Power's commercial and industrial customers. For accounts with the flexibility to operate at non-peaking times, a time-of-use rate and off-peak riders are available.

Who qualifies for the Time of Use – Food & Drink rate?

Time of Use – Food & Drink is applicable to commercial customers that have an actual peak demand of not less than 30 kW and no more than 250 kW and are defined under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) as 722 Food Services and Drinking Places.

Does Georgia Power offer a rate plan for electric vehicle charging?

Yes. The Time of Use – Electric Vehicle Charging rate is applicable to all electric service for non-residential premises dedicated to electric vehicle charging.

What obligation do I have when applying for service?

Typically, each customer enters into a minimum one-year contract with renewable periods of the same duration, unless you or Georgia Power provide written intent to dissolve the contract at least 30 days prior to the renewal period.

As a customer, what is my obligation once I have selected a rate?

After you select a rate, you may not change to another rate within a 12-month period unless there is substantial change in the character or conditions of service. You may initiate any rate change once you are eligible. Additionally, when you and the company sign a service contract, the contract terms may require that account to stay on a specific rate for a period longer than 12 months.

How is the peak demand carryover determined?

Billing demands spread costs over a full 12 months as opposed to billing you for the full demand cost each month. It is similar to budget billing for commercial and industrial customers. Most of Georgia Power's customers peak during a summer month when costs to generate electricity are at their highest. The billing demand is driven by this peak demand and spreads the cost out going forward. Some of the more common rates that include a peak demand carryover are: Power and Light - small, medium and large (PLS, PLM, and PLL), Governmental (G), School Service (SCH) and School Load Management (SLM).

Power & Light Medium

MOst COmmon

This is a traditional demand-based rate that includes both energy charges (kWh) and billing demand (kW). Billing demand is based on the highest 30-minute kW measurement, with seasonal demand calculations and ratchet provisions.

Best For:

Medium-sized businesses with steady but significant demand — such as grocery stores, healthcare facilities, warehouses, manufacturing operations, and large retail locations.

Eligibility:

Energy demand between 30 kW, but less than 500kW
1-year contract
Service delivered at one standard voltage

3-Year Contract pricing

Combines time-based energy pricing (On-Peak, Shoulder, Off-Peak) with structured demand charges. Demand is separated into On-Peak, Economy, and Maximum demand components depending on season.

Best For:

Businesses that can shift operations away from peak summer hours and actively manage demand to reduce costs.

Energy demand peak must be less than 100 MW

Food & Drink - Time of Use

Industry Specific

Designed specifically for restaurants and drinking establishments. Offers On-Peak, Off-Peak, and Super Off-Peak pricing — including very low overnight rates.

No separate demand charge structure is listed in this tariff; pricing is based on time-based energy use.

Best For:

Restaurants, bars, and food service operations that operate extended hours and can take advantage of Super Off-Peak pricing.

Annual energy peak demand between 30kW and 250 kW
1-year contract

for electric vehicles

Commercial and industrial customers with the ability to actively manage load in response to hourly price signals.

Monthly peak demand of at least 5,000 kW

Fixed Pricing Alternative

A pricing alternative available to certain legacy customers transitioning from Real-Time Pricing. Offers customer-specific off-peak pricing with a fixed on-peak rate structure.

Best For:

Eligible former RTP customers seeking more price stability while maintaining structured time-based pricing.

Expected peak of less than 100 MW
