Individually owned farms in Georgia may qualify for Farm Service or Seasonal Agricultural rates, depending on their usage patterns and demand level. Eligibility is based on how electricity is used for growing, harvesting, irrigation, or agricultural processing operations.
Agricultural use includes electricity used for crop production, livestock, poultry, irrigation, grain handling, drying, curing, storage, and agricultural processing where ownership remains with the farm operation. Certain rates require that a majority of usage meets certain criteria.
Seasonal agricultural rates are designed for farms and agricultural operations where most electricity usage occurs during specific months of the year. These rates often require that a defined percentage of annual energy use occurs within a concentrated time period.
Yes. Irrigation operations may qualify for Irrigation Off-Peak Service, which provides pricing incentives for pumping during designated off-peak hours to help reduce overall system demand and energy costs.
Some agricultural rates are energy-based, while others include demand charges based on peak usage. The applicable structure depends on the specific rate and the operation’s usage profile.
