Businesses with peak demand of 500 kW or greater typically qualify for Power & Light Large or specific Time-of-Use rates depending on load profile and eligibility.
Power & Light Large is primarily demand-based with tiered energy pricing. Time-of-Use rates vary pricing by time of day and may reward businesses that can shift energy use outside peak summer hours.
Billing demand is based on the highest 30-minute kW measurement during the billing month, and may include seasonal ratchet provisions depending on the tariff.
A demand ratchet uses your highest historical peak demand to establish a minimum billing demand for future months, particularly during seasonal periods.
Load factor measures how consistently electricity is used compared to peak demand. A higher load factor indicates more efficient use of energy and may qualify customers for specific rate plans such as Time of Use - High Load Factor.
Contract terms vary by rate plan. Power & Light Large requires a five-year term, while Time of Use rates requires a one-year initial term.
