Our History

Community Involvement

Our company's first president, Preston Arkwright, coined the phrase “A Citizen Wherever We Serve,” and we have been living up to it ever since. Georgia Power employees play important roles in our communities, volunteering for charities and service organizations, and supporting local community civic organizations.

Project SHARE

Our partnership with The Salvation Army allows us to help Georgians in need. Last year, Project SHARE provided assistance to approximately 34,000 Georgians, with Georgia Power and its customers contributing $2.2 million to the program.
