As a resident of Jackson, Georgia, Len’s journey with Georgia Power began in 2015 at Plant Bowen as an Auxiliary Equipment Operator. He now works as a Senior Operations Specialist at Plant Scherer.
Len's career took a pause from 2018 to 2021 for military service overseas, where he worked with a trauma team to treat casualties. This eye-opening experience gave him a profound perspective on humanity. Returning to Scherer in 2022, Len found more than a workplace; he found a family.
"Everyone looked at me as new and took me under their wings," he reflected.
In his current role in Operations, Len monitors and troubleshoots process data in the plant’s operational system—data that drives key performance indicators. He also supports Operation’s technology initiatives such as digital operator rounds performed on iPads. Len describes working in power generation as being in a "unique spot," emphasizing the critical role generation workers play in powering hospitals, grocery stores, and more.
Outside of work, Len cherishes time with his family, including his wife and four children, one of whom has special needs. He credits his wife, a military spouse, for her unwavering support. An active member of the Scherer Citizens Chapter, Len enjoys photography and serves as the group's social media officer.
Len's story is a testament to the dedication and purpose that define our Generation team. We are grateful for his contributions and commitment to powering Georgia now and in the future.
