Behind Every Flip of the Switch: Meet Regina

In the heart of Eatonton, Georgia, Regina, stands as a testament to dedication and legacy. For 46 years, she has been a pillar at Georgia Power, embodying the spirit of Generation Appreciation Month.

Her journey began in construction, but soon she found her calling in Georgia Power’s plants, inspired by her father's 40-year tenure at Plant Branch. Regina's grandfather, too, spent over four decades at Plant Tugalo, weaving a tapestry of commitment through the generations.

Regina's career blossomed as she transitioned to Renewable and Resilient Generation. In her current role as a Senior Environmental Specialist, she travels to various sites across the state and supports solar initiatives. Her work involves ensuring compliance for environmental programs, a role she embraces with passion and precision.

Regina's love for her work is matched only by her appreciation for her colleagues, who she considers family. Together, they embody the values of "Integrity Always" and "Intentional Inclusion," creating a supportive environment where everyone looks out for one another.

“Everyone really wants to do the right thing,” she said. “We check on each other. That’s what it’s about: Taking time for others.”

Her daughter continues the family tradition at Southern Company, while her son and two fur babies, Sam and Snowy, complete her family circle. Although she’s already hit her goal to exceed more than 40 years like her father and grandfather, she’s not quite ready to retire, driven by the joy of her work and the bonds she has forged across Generation.

“I really enjoy the people I work with,” she said. “We’re really a family.”

Regina’s story is a celebration of dedication, legacy and the power of community.
