Georgia Power, Southern Company Delta Sigma Theta Members Hold Day of Service for Atlanta Mission

As Atlanta welcomed thousands of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. members for the organization’s 50th Southern Regional Conference, Southern Company Delta Sigma Theta members joined forces with the Georgia Power General Office and Jefferson Street Citizens volunteer groups to kick off the week with a meaningful act of service.

Held at Southern Company’s corporate headquarters, the volunteer project brought together 50 participants who partnered with Atlanta Mission to assemble 100 Blessing Box Kits for women transitioning into independent living. Filled with everyday essentials, the kits are designed to provide practical support and encouragement to women embarking on a new chapter in their lives.

“Our commitment to customers and communities is rooted in people," said Tanisha Johnson, president of the Heart of Georgia Citizens Chapter and a member of Delta Sigma Theta. "Opportunities like this bring together employees from across the business to build relationships, strengthen partnerships and demonstrate the values that guide us every day.”

As part of the company's commitment to being “A Citizen Wherever We Serve”, Georgia Power employees continue to invest in communities across the state through volunteerism and service. In 2025, employees supported more than 1,000 organizations and participated in nearly 300 volunteer projects, extending the company's tradition of making a positive impact throughout Georgia.
