Georgia Power celebrates National Tradesmen Day

Georgia Power is proud to recognize National Tradesmen Day and celebrate the skilled trades professionals whose expertise helps power a growing Georgia. Observed annually on the third Friday in September, National Tradesmen Day honors the men and women whose craftsmanship, technical expertise and dedication help build, maintain, and strengthen the infrastructure communities rely on every day.

Across Georgia Power, more than 2,600 tradesmen work in critical roles that support the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity to the company's 2.8 million customers across the state. Electricians, mechanics, welders, utility workers, relay technicians, equipment operators and other skilled professionals help maintain infrastructure, respond to storms, support new construction projects and strengthen the grid that powers homes, businesses and industries statewide.

On National Tradesmen Day, Georgia Power encourages customers, communities and businesses to take a moment to thank the tradesmen whose work helps keep Georgia moving forward.

As the company invests in a stronger, more resilient grid to meet increasing energy demand, skilled tradesmen play a critical role in maintaining reliable service for customers.  Many of these employees work around the clock and in challenging conditions, including during severe weather and major restoration events. Their specialized training, technical expertise and commitment to safety help ensure Georgia Power can respond quickly to outages, maintain critical infrastructure and continue delivering reliable energy to customers across the state.

To support the state's continued growth, Georgia Power remains focused on attracting and developing the next generation of skilled workers. Through apprenticeships, technical training, mentorship and career development opportunities, the company offers rewarding careers that allow employees to build valuable skills, support their communities and play a direct role in powering Georgia's future. The company hires approximately 700 employees annually across Power Delivery and Generation operations, including about 200 lineworkers each year. In addition, planned generation investments are expected to create nearly 250 additional full-time jobs and support more than 3,000 construction jobs in the coming years.
