Clark Atlanta University Student Gets Hands-On Work Experience with Georgia Power and Atlanta Hawks

Few things match real-world experience when it comes to starting a career, and Clark Atlata University student, Destiny Rivero, added some of the best names in Atlanta to her resume. Thanks to Georgia Power's pop-up event at Clark Atlanta University, Destiny got the opportunity to shadow representatives from both the Atlanta Hawks and Georgia Power organizations, learning real-life experience for her future career.

In partnership with the Atlanta Hawks, Georgia Power held a pop-up event at Clark Atlanta University's campus in late February 2018. They were joined by Georgia Power's employee resource group, VOICE, to share career advice and opportunities available at Georgia Power.

Destiny recapped her experience and said "I am grateful to have been chosen for such an opportunity aligned with my career path. This experience was eye opening for me because I did not realize how many different departments were within Georgia Power. I met so many phenomenal people eager to answer my questions and willing to help further my career. Overall this was an awesome experience, thank you Georgia Power, Atlanta Hawks, and CSE."

The experience included:

  • Tour of Georgia Power's social media center
  • Meet and greets with Georgia Power's internal and external communication team
  • Lunch and a Q & A session
  • Tour and meet and greets with sports agency, Career Sports and Entertainment (CSE)
  • Tickets to Hawks and VIP pre-game court access
