Georgia Power Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Georgia Power and the Atlanta Braves are highlighting Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, with Nuestra Cultura. This initiative was created to educate, engage and celebrate the many contributions Hispanics and Latinos have made to the game of baseball through community service.

On Sept. 16, Hispanic and Latino Braves players were honored during a pre-game on field presentation. Several Georgia Power employees with employee resource group, AMIGOS had the opportunity to participate by holding flags from the different countries. The Braves also took the field in their Los Bravos jerseys.

In coordination with Georgia Power's longstanding Learning Power in-school curriculum, select elementary schools had the opportunity to meet and participate in a Q&A with Braves players and learn more about the game of baseball by attending a clinic.

The Nuestra Cultura is just one of the ways Georgia Power is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Additional events and initiatives hosted this month include Plaza Fiesta's Independencia de Mexico (a family friendly celebration that hosts vendors, food tents, music, dancing and performances) and a social media contest where fans and customers can enter to win Los Bravos merchandise.

Georgia Power is dedicated to engaging with all of customers through community programs and partnerships, while maintaining a workforce that represents the communities it serves. This dedication is a part of the company's broader commitment to being a "citizen wherever we serve" and continued work to improve the quality of life for citizens throughout Georgia.
