Religious leader forums showcase meaning of community partnerships

Georgia Power brought together religious leaders from around the state in 2018 to present information on energy initiatives and share how community partnerships are vital to meeting the changing needs of Georgia’s diverse population. 

The company held three forums in Macon, Valdosta and Atlanta. Topics ranged from Georgia Power’s region community involvement to energy assistance programs available for income-qualified customers.

These meetings provided a unique opportunity for clergy and other guests to learn about specialized programs designed by Georgia Power to serve low-income, elderly and other underserved communities.

The Energy Assistance team shared how the company assists customers struggling to pay their bills. A key part of Georgia Power’s partnership focuses on educating community leaders and partners on services and programs that prevent customer debt and help move them out of the collection cycle.

The presentation also highlighted Energy Efficiency programs and tips that show how customers can reduce their energy usage and save money.

In Atlanta, Georgia Power Chairman, President and CEO Paul Bowers hosted the forum, with over 30 religious leaders attending.

“Our partnership with Georgia Power has been very fruitful and that was proven at the Clergy Religious Leadership luncheon,” said Elder Dr. Ralph Peay.  “The open dialogue, dynamic energy in the room and opportunity to commune and exchange with fellow leaders in the city was invaluable. The Concerned Black Clergy was honored to take part.”
