Georgia Power Named Top Corporate Team While Raising Awareness for Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. In the spring of 2023, Georgia Power employees continued a long tradition of fundraising for MS by participating in the Multiple Sclerosis Walk. Georgia Power was named the top Corporate Team at the walk as well as the #2 Overall team with over $20,000 raised.

This fall, Georgia Power employees again showed up to help and participated in the Bike MS: Atlanta Peach Ride, where the company was again awarded “Corporate Team of the Year” raising $8,000.

Brian DeFrates, Chair of the Board of Trustees for the National MS Society - Georgia Chapter and a Manager of Architecture at Georgia Power, played a key role in garnering support and rallying employees to participate in the walk and bike ride. "I'm thrilled to see the growth of the Georgia Power Walk and Bike MS teams and the increased engagement from our employees. It's inspiring to witness their dedication to improving the lives of those affected by MS while embodying our core value of being a citizen wherever we serve. Together, we are making a difference and striving towards finding a cure for MS."
