Forestry for Wildlife

Since 1996 when Georgia's Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) initiated its Forestry for Wildlife program, Georgia Power has been an award-winning partner each year. In this program, corporate forest landowners are invited to participate in this voluntary and participant-driven conservation effort to enhance wildlife conservation on corporate forest lands.

  • Oconee
  • Rum Creek

While Georgia's rapid population growth and expansion have resulted in substantial wildlife habitat loss and degradation, this public-private partnership program provides opportunities to enhance wildlife conservation practices. Participating companies, including Georgia Power, are evaluated annually on involvement and forethought regarding wildlife conservation planning, education and outreach, management practices, sensitive sites, and recreation and partnerships. Since 1997, Georgia Power has been recognized annually for helping Georgia achieve long-term sustainability of its natural resources.
